Europe Trip

We recently went to Europe for 8 days as a graduation present for me and as a last hoorah for Kasey before he started his full-time internship at Novell. (Kasey - So yeah, I didn't post anything about it, but I got hired as an Internal Audit Intern for Novell for 2 years. It is an awesome experience so far.(and I'm not just talking about the free hot chocolate machine outside my office).

We loved using the efficient public transportation systems to get around. (Prague Metro)

I dozed right off on any and all types of transportation. (Czech train to Salzburg)

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
View of Charles Bridge in the background (thanks for the beautiful weather, Prague!)

Prague Castle.

Love the red roofs.

We went on a hike and had a campfire with the members in Liberec where Kasey served his mission.  We stayed at the branch president's cottage in the woods so we could go to church with them the next day (family above).  There was nothing cuter than hearing Matysek (who looks just like Winnie the Pooh) speak Czech.

SALZBURG, AUSTRIA
City of Salzburg with the Hohensalzburg castle perched up on the hill.

We went on a Sound of Music tour (very cool even though we both only made it through the first half of the movie before our trip).

Mirabell Gardens (featured in Sound of Music) with incredible flowers planted in curvy patterns.

We rode a gondola (can you spot it?) up to the Uttenburg mountain, but unfortunately couldn't see much from the top because of the thick fog.

FUSSEN, GERMANY
The story of our trip...fog.  We weren't too happy about it as you can see.

This is the view of the Hohenschwangau castle from Neuschwanstein.

The fog finally cleared enough for us to get this picture of Neuschwanstein Castle from Mary's Bridge (Walt Disney designed Sleeping Beauty's Castle after this).

GRINDELWALD, SWITZERLAND
We left insanely expensive Zurich for a day trip to see the Alps.  Again, the fog hindered our view, so we were only able to see the bottom third of the mountains, but we had a good time hiking around.

Me wearing the clown nose I got as a prize in a bag of chips.

Props to this guy for planning and taking the lead on such a wonderful trip!

NOTE FROM KASEY: This post reaffirmed to Mollie why she hates blogging. This post literally threw her into an anxiety attack. She kept repeating, "I hate this, I hate this, I HATE blogging." She approaches blogging as if it were a final paper due for one of her classes. I'm glad that she took the time to write on our blog and I hope she will add more in the future!

  2. Mollie, Jimmy and I are giving you a standing ovation with a roaring round of applause! Really.

BEAUTIFUL. Oh my goodness! Prague looks...a lot like Slovakia :) You were so close to Dustin! I am so jealous of you two running around Europe. But GOOD for you for going on this trip. It is well deserved!

The clown nose as a prize in a bag of chips? Funniest thing today.

  3. How fun that you guys got to take this trip! Awesome pictures, despite all the fog. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one in the world who hasn't seen all of "Sound of Music." :)

  6. Though I agree that blogging can be somewhat daunting and arduous, I most definitely appreciate you sharing the pictures with your constituents. What would please me also is if you were to watch 'The Sound of Music' in its entirety!
